The outside premises of the temple is very clean and well organised. You can also find varieties of perra and Dala shops throughout the whole premises of the temple. The temple is almost 55 km from Agartala which is situated in Matabari, Udaipur. Must visit places in Tripura and puja offering in this temple is very easy. Review : Mata Bari Temple Tripura
This sacred temple is located 60 km from Agartala, the capital city of Tripura in Gomati district.
This pithasthan is also known as “Kurma Peeth” because the shape of the temple premises resembles that of “Kurma” namely tortoise.
The temple consists of a square type sanctum of the typical Bengali hut (chala) type structure with a conical dome. A stamp featuring the Tripureswari temple was released on September 2003 acknowledging this heritage.
Maharaja Dhanya Manikya founded the Tripura Sundari Temple in the year 1501. It is said that he actually constructed the temple for Lord Bishnu, but later on due to a revelation in his dream, he carried the idol of Mata Tripurasundari which is made up of Kosti Stone (Touchstone) from Chittagong of Bangladesh and installed it in this temple.
It is considered to be one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. According to Hindu Mythology, Peethasthans are those places where the body parts of Devi Sati have fallen. As per the “Pithamala Grantha”, Sati’s right foot fell here during Lord Siva’s Tandava Dance.
Here, Shakti is worshipped as Tripurasundarī and the accompanying Bhairava is Tripuresh.
Every year on the occasion of Diwali, a famous Mela takes place near the temple which is visited by huge number of devotees.
“Kalyan Sagar” lies in the eastern side of the temple. Spreading over 6.4 acres, with a length of 224 yards and width of 160 yards this large expanse of water adds a great ambience and beauty to the temple precincts, with hills rising picturesquely in the background. The water is full of rare Bostami turtles. There are huge number of fishes live in the water. The devotees while visiting the deity offer puffed rice (Muri) to the fishes.
It is a must visit for visitors going to Tripura.

Review : One of the famous shaktipeeth of Bharat. The name of state of Tripura is derived from this temple.
It is believed that right foot of sati fell here. The main temple is just small as compared to its grandeur but the premises are big. There is large temple pond where fishes and turtles are fed by devotees. Devotees also take bath here.
Ma statue is made of kasauti stone. Temple was made by Raja in 14th century. There is long reach road flanked by shops selling religious items. People can park vehicles outside these shops.
Its a great temple to visit, and is always crowded. - Star Rating :

Review : From Agartala
Option- (1) By Train
From Agratal Railway station to Udaipur (UDPU) Railway station. DEMU trainin is available & timing can be checked from 'Where is my train' application. Fare- Rs. 10/- ,Time - Approx 50 mins. In Udaipur railway station auto is easily available. Take auto for Matabari ( Tripureswari Temple/ Tripura Sundari Devi Mandir) . Fare- Rs. 15/-, Time- approx 10 mins. They will drop at the temple gate.
Option -(2) By Bus
From Agartala, go to Nagerjala Bus stop. Take any bus to Matabari . Bus is easily available. Fare- Rs. 60/-, Time- approx - 01:45 Hrs. They will drop you at same point at the gate of the temple, where the auto would drop in option (1) .The ride can be enjoyed but their bus service is very poor. They intentionally stop in some stoppage for 10 mins or more. So, that is a note.
For return journey both options are available.
Outside the temple there are multiple choices of puja shop & Peda Bhandar. All bears almost same test, the authentic taste of peda. This is the key point, bring some peda from there, it will surely satisfy your taste & will remember Ma Tripura Sundari. A temple pond is there behind the temple, there are some tortoise in that pond which depicts its importance as Kurma pitha.
If you are in Tripura it is a must recommended site / temple to visit. Thank you. 🙏
