Review : I recently visited the Kanaka Durgamma Temple in Vijayawada. There are three main ways to reach the temple
1. Old Steps (Metla Pooja route) Traditional path where devotees perform metla pooja
2. New Steps/Lift Access inside new complex building
3. Ghat Road for vehicles parking available near the temple corridor I chose this route.
From Vijayawada Railway Station, you’ll find autos, bike taxis, and buses to reach the temple. I opted for a shared auto which charged ₹20 per person to the Ghat Road starting point. Nearby, there’s also an entrance to the Krishna River for devotees who wish to take a holy bath.
From the ghat road base, temple shuttle buses are available for ₹10 per person. However, there’s usually a huge crowd, even on weekdays, so it’s not recommended for elderly people or children for safety reasons.
At the temple corridor, you’ll find separate counters to deposit bags and mobiles they charge around ₹10–₹20 per item.
For darshan, there are ₹500, ₹300, ₹100, and free queues. I visited on a weekday afternoon and opted for free darshan, which took about 30 minutes. The temple also offers free food (Annadanam) till around 3:30 PM, but be prepared for long queues there too.
Overall, it was a peaceful and fulfilling experience, though it’s best to plan ahead considering the crowd. - Star Rating :

Review : The temple of Kanaka Durga is the Goddess of power. The ancient temple of Kanaka Durga , a top of the Indrakeeladri hill on the banks of the Sacred river Krishna in Vijayawada, abounds with legends of historical interest. The temple can be reached by either ghat road with the help of a bike or car, walking, or taking the darshan of lord Hanuman during the Ghat road. Also there is another way to travel near to gowshala, having the facility to travel by lift directly on top near the Goddess. Mobiles are not allowed - Star Rating :

Review : This is a must visit place of worship in Vijaywada. Mother Durga blessed me with Darshan 3 times in the past 5 years. The latest was in mid-March 2025. This temple sorts on the hill besides river Krishna in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. It is a beautiful and revered temple. There is a Shiv Temple on campus, which is very beautiful. This is a peaceful temple with a large number of devotees thronging every day. The view of Vijaywada at night is spell binding.
