About the Dhanushkodi
Dhanushkodi is a ghost town at the southeastern tip of Pamban Island in Tamil Nadu, India. It's located just a few kilometers from Sri Lanka, separated by the Palk Strait. Once a bustling town with a railway station, church, and schools, it was devastated by a cyclone in 1964 and subsequently declared unfit for habitation. Today, it stands as a poignant reminder of nature's power and a unique travel destination known for its stunning beaches, historical significance, and the eerie silence that permeates the landscape.
