The nearest airport is Pakyong Airport (PYG) near Gangtok, but its connectivity is limited. Bagdogra Airport (IXB) near Siliguri is a more reliable option. From Bagdogra, you can hire a taxi to Gangtok.
The most common route is to travel to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, and then hire a vehicle (usually an SUV) to Lachung. From Lachung, Yumthang Valley is a short drive away. Inner Line Permits are required for Indian citizens, and foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit.
Gangtok is well-connected to other cities in Sikkim and West Bengal by road. From Gangtok, hire a taxi or book a tour package to Lachung and Yumthang Valley. The road from Lachung to Yumthang can be challenging, especially during the monsoon season, so a sturdy vehicle is essential.
The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), near Siliguri. From NJP, you can hire a taxi or take a shared jeep to Gangtok.
