Sonamarg, meaning 'Meadow of Gold', is a breathtaking hill station in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The nearest airport is Srinagar Airport (SXR), which is approximately 70 km from Sonamarg. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a pre-booked cab to reach Sonamarg. Helicopters are also available to book in advance for travel from Srinagar to Sonamarg during peak tourist season, but the cost is considerably higher.
Sonamarg is well-connected by road to Srinagar and other major cities in Jammu and Kashmir. You can hire a taxi or take a bus from Srinagar. The journey takes around 2-3 hours. Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) buses are also available.
The nearest railway station is Jammu Tawi (JAT), which is approximately 380 km from Sonamarg. From Jammu, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Srinagar, and then continue your journey to Sonamarg. This is a longer and less convenient option.
