The nearest airport is Pakyong Airport (PYG) in Sikkim, but it has limited connectivity. Bagdogra Airport (IXB) in West Bengal is the most commonly used airport, located about 125 km from Gangtok. From Bagdogra, you can hire a taxi or take a pre-booked helicopter to Gangtok.
Sikkim is well-connected by road to other parts of India. National Highway 10 connects Sikkim to Siliguri in West Bengal. Buses and taxis are available from Siliguri to Gangtok and other towns in Sikkim. Inner Line Permits (ILP) are required for foreign nationals to enter Sikkim and can be obtained at the Rangpo check post.
The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) in West Bengal, located about 117 km from Gangtok. From NJP, you can hire a taxi or take a shared jeep to Gangtok.
